what it is

a place to go from idea to something real.

Sandbox SC is an AI-native builder community at USC — open to any major, any skill level, no prerequisites.

It runs on a cohort model: students join each semester and ship projects through build nights, standups, mini-sprints, AI workshops, and demo days — backed by real tools (API credits, pro licenses) and mentorship from operators at top companies. AI has collapsed the distance between concept and product; Sandbox is built around that shift.

my role

media + events for a community that builds.

As an e-board member on media + events, I help shape how Sandbox shows up — its content and social presence, and the programming that brings student founders and builders together, from build nights to its flagship makeathon.

the campaign

one event, told in many voices.

To promote the makeathon we built a run of posters that each borrow a different cultural language — a sports-poster desert dunk, an album-cover water scene, a retro-Mac boot screen — all carrying the same Sandbox × Rêve mark. The point was reach: meet people where their taste already lives.

flagship event

the rêve makeathon.

A one-day creative sprint with Rêve (April 2026) — deliberately small, craft-first, and anti-pitch-deck. Students got full access to Rêve's AI creative tool and on-site mentorship, and kept full ownership of whatever they made that day.

It wasn't about chasing flashy innovation metrics. It was about shipping a finished, tangible thing in an afternoon — the whole Sandbox thesis, compressed into three hours.

"the distance between an idea and a made thing should be as small as possible."
